Pre babies, I always had a candle jar burning when I was at home. Once the kids were born, I still used them most evenings. I loved my home smelling great, but hated the risks associated with candles.Read on to find out why I no longer use candles at home…

About 18 months ago, a friend sent me a Scentsy Warmer and some wax to try. I loved it, but my husband loved it even more than I did! Fast forward 3 months and we had a Scentsy warmer in our kitchen, bedroom, lounge and daughter’s room.

The warmer shown below, (Tilia) was the first one I got, and I’m melting one of my favourite scents in it here – Amazon Rain – The scent’s blurb says, “Set off on a rainforest romp swirling with sweet notes of melon, orange zest, coconut milk and sultry night blooming jasmine.”

I loved the fact the wax was food grade, so if the kids did happen to get hold of it, no harm would be done. I also love that Scentsy wax doesn’t get hot enough to burn, so if the warmer is ever knocked over, there’s no risk of anyone getting hurt.

Lifetime Warranty

Scentsy warmers all come with a lifetime guarantee, so they are a great investment. Prices range from £24 each to £55 each. The one shown below is known as  “Bali Mini Warmer”, and it plugs straight into your socket. This costs £24. I’m melting Quiet Grove here – another of my favourite scents. The blurb for this one is, “Take a morning stroll before the world stirs, finding peace in hushed notes of bergamot, jasmine and sandalwood.”

Scentsy warmers heat us using mains power, so there’s no naked flame. This makes them much safer to use than candle jars and oil or wax burners, which rely on tea lights to release the fragrance.

Ambient Light

A lot of the Scentsy Warmers give off light when they are on. Falling For Autumn is absolutely stunning in real life. It’s got a 3D leaf effect – almost like real leaves have been stamped into the clay while its been made. It gives off a beautiful multi coloured glow as well. If you love the smell of clean laundry, clean breeze is the wax for you! The blurb for this one says,”White florals with a touch of spring; this is the scent of fresh, clean laundry.”

Aromatherapy

Out of all the scents, the one we use the most of here is JUST BREATHE . The blurb for that is,”Breathe deeply as soothing eucalyptus, zesty lemon, and a medley of mints comfort and rejuvenate.” My son, Sam has Autism and this scent works wonders when he is anxious or upset.

It really helps him to calm down and I always recommend it to people with anxiety as well as those with colds, coughs and blocked sinuses. Here it is being used with my Chasing Fireflies warmer. (Told you I have a lot of warmers)!

Essential Oils

Scentsy warmers look different in daylight and evening light. The Tilia warmer pictured first in this post looks even more beautiful in the evening. It’s pictured below with my REFLECT Diffuser. I am melting Sweet Pea and Vanilla in the warmer this time. The blurb for this scent is….”Ambiance of raspberries and sweet pea petals with vanilla.”

Consultant Journey

My Scentsy addiction grew and grew, and in the end I joined as a consultant so I could earn commission back on my purchases, and maybe sell to friends and family as well. This was about 11 months ago now, and my team is growing and my customers keep coming back for more!

Scentsy works out much cheaper than Yankee Candle does as well – It’s £7.25 for 1 Scentsy bar which gives you around 96 hours of fragrance. A Medium Yankee Candle costs £19.99 and gives you 65-90 hours of scent. If you buy 6 Scentsy bars at a time, you only pay for 5, so they then work out even cheaper!

EDIT: MARCH 2019: I am no longer a scentsy consultant, as I returned to full time work. I still buy the products and love them, but get no commission or rewards for doing so.

So, to answer the blog post’s title: why I no longer use candles at home is because I have found a safer, more cost effective option! Have you tried Scentsy yet? Finally, find more of my random ramblings here.
