This past year I have learnt something about myself… I am a comfort eater.
My Mum passed away last March and since then I have gained 3 stone. I am now the heaviest I have been since 2009 – I weigh more now than I did when I was 9 months pregnant with the kids!
That’s ok though. I am not going to be hard on myself. Food was my way of dealing with the horrible year I have had. I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t go out partying and I rarely get to spend a full night in my own bed – never mind stay there and hide from the world.
The line has been drawn and since the 1st of Feb I have been avoiding junk and eating healthier options. I am using My Fitness Pal, and so far I have stuck to it. I’m hoping to find time to fit in some form of exercise soon, but at the moment, I’m focussing on getting my eating habits on track.
I weighed in on 1st Feb at 199lb (14 stone, 3lb). I weighed in on Friday 10th at 13 stone 12lb. That’s a loss of 5lb in 10 days – I’m over the moon with that!
I haven’t worked out what my target is yet, but I am assuming it’ll be around 11 stone (154lb). I am bursting out of my UK size 16 jeans at the moment and want to be comfortably back in my size 14’s. I have been down to a size 12 in recent years, but I don’t think it’s realistic for me to maintain 1200 calories a day, so I’m going to settle for a weight I know I will be able to maintain.
