We have recently become members of the Parragon Books Blogger’s Book Club. This involves us being sent books to unbox and review on our blog and youtube channel. We were recently sent the new Moana Activity Tin. Rather than spend ages explaining what’s included, here’s the video so you can see for yourself…
As the video shows, you do get a lot of items included inside the tin: You’ll find a double sided A3 poster, a story book, an activity book, a colouring book, 4 felt tip pens and an A4 sheet of stickers. The tin measures approximately 7.5in x 9.9in x 1.6in and is aimed at children aged 6-8 years old. The tin has an RRP of £16.99 but is available for much less online.
If you aren’t familiar with Moana, she’s the star of the latest Disney Movie. The blurb on the Parragon Books website says: Join Moana as she sails off on an unimaginable adventure across Oceania to save her people and find her true self. She is joined by demigod Maui, who is on his own journey of self-discovery. Discover Moana’s action-packed voyage in this beautiful tin. Inside you’ll find an epic storybook, coloring book and activity book, plus a double-sided poster, over 50 stickers and 4 colorful felt-tip pens. Fun activities, from ocean mazes to starry spot the difference puzzles, and heaps of coloring will create hours of fun! An ocean of adventure awaits! It’s a tin full of fun!
My daughter is 4 and a half years old. She hasn’t seen Moana yet and wasn’t very interested in the set. I suspect that was mostly down to her age and the fact she isn’t familiar with the characters though. My 8 year old niece took on the challenge though, and happily read the story book. She could just about manage the intricate colouring book, and completed a few of the activities as well – she said the dot to dots and spot the difference games were her favourites.
The poster is double sided as well. The printed side is shown in the top image. The reverse has a black and white image which will take a couple of hours to colour in by my guesstimations.
All told, I think the tin is good fun for fans of the MOANA film. It’s an ideal “rainy day” activity for children aged 6-9 ish. I remember my mum used to have an old biscuit tin, full of little activity books like these stashed away, ready to keep the kids entertained on rainy days.
The RRP is a little steep compared to other tins of this nature, but there are some fantastic deals available if you shop around.
We were sent the item as part of the Parragon Books Blogger Book Club, but all words and opinions are my own.
