I remember watching Beatrix Potter cartoons on the TV when I was small. Peter Rabbit was always my favourite because he was a bit mischievous and had some pretty exciting adventures. Before Sam was even born, I’d bought him the complete collection of The World Of Peter Rabbit books.
When Peter Rabbit popped up on CBeebies, I don’t know who was more excited – me or the kids! We were recently sent a Win a Peter Rabbit Hop With Me Plush to review. It has an RRP of £29.99 and is available from Argos.
Hopping Peter Rabbit is suitable for children aged 18+ months, and he requires 3x AA batteries – which are included. He stands at around 40cm tall and has 5 phrases. If you press his left paw, he will speak and wiggle his ears. If you press his right paw, he will hop and say one of his phrases.
My 6 year old son, Sam has autism and hates toys to be removed from their packaging. This has meant poor Peter has been stuck in his box being played with all weekend. Sam loves watching his ears wiggle and watching him try to jump, while fastened into the box, though.
I managed to remove Peter from the box last night – Much to Sam’s dismay. Peter Rabbit is really well made, and I am happy to report he stays upright even when hopping on carpet – something a lot of “jumping” toys struggle with.
Peter’s coat and bag are not removable, which pleased me no end – I get fed up looking for missing clothing when the kids have taken them off, and are then beside themselves 20 minutes later when they can’t find them!
If you lift up the back of Peter’s famous blue coat, you find the battery compartment and an on- off switch. I haven’t needed to use this yet, but I’m sure it will be a welcomed feature for lots of parents. All told we really like this item. It’s sturdy, well made and feels built to last.
