If you follow us on social media, you’ll already know all about Sam’s obsession with bouncing. Sam is 6 now, he has autism and one of his favourite things to do is bounce. He was jumping around on his knees for a good year before he took his first steps.
When we were asked to review a My Rebounder, I knew it was going to be a total sanity saver for us over the winter months, when Sam couldn’t be outside on our garden trampoline.
My Rebounder is a premium quality 40 inch children’s mini trampoline. It is designed for use at home and is ideal for jumping, running and dancing on. My Rebounder say, “It is a great way to get your children active, improve their balance and coordination, and strengthen their muscles and bones“.
One thing I loved was that it’s a no mess activity, and it folds flat for easy storage and transportation – there’s a storage bag included, and the legs fold against the trampoline so it is just 7cm high when folded. The perfect height to slide under a bed or sofa. It has a diameter of 102cm, so can be popped behind units or high backed furniture too. My Rebounder weighs around 10kg so can be transported by grown ups, but is too heavy for the intended 3-7 year old users to move around.
Sam loved being able to bounce indoors without being moaned at. (He usually bounces on beds, which has resulted in us replacing the mattresses annually) – I am hoping My Rebounder will mean our mattresses last longer in future!
I was really pleased to find that the frame arrived assembled with the legs, springs and jumping mat. All I had to do was add the spring cover, feet and some small black caps to the ends of the springs. It was simple to do and it took me under 10 minutes to unbox and assemble it. By the time I had taken the packaging out to the bin, Sam had climbed on with his iPad and was bouncing on his knees. (This is what he tends to do on the sofas and beds).
Based on his smiley face, I think it’s safe to say Sam loves his My Rebounder. He’s not alone though – the dogs do too! Monty in particular seems to have decided its his own personal play thing. (Remember the trampolining Boxer Dog on last year’s John Lewis Christmas advert? He’s got nothing on Monty)!
So… what makes My Rebounder different to grown up rebounders already available? The most obvious thing is the bold colour choices. You can currently opt for a Pink or Blue Rebounder. I am secretly hoping they’ll add yellow or purple to the mix as we only have space for 1 trampoline, and my daughter “hates” blue, so is thus far refusing to go near it…!
My Rebounder has also been independently tested against the EU Toy Safety Guidelines, including those specifically for trampolines. They have the CE label and are EN71 compliant – which basically means they are proven safe for kids. Grown up ones could have bigger gaps between springs, which could potentially lead to trapped fingers etc.
Our new puppy, Minnie has taken to sleeping on the My Rebounder – It must be comfy as she prefers snoozing on there compared to her dog bed!
All told we really like our My Rebounder. It is well made and sturdy. My advice to any potential buyers would be: If it’s going to be used upstairs, make sure you have a non slip mat or carpe underneath it, or it’ll sound like a herd of elephants doing the can-can overhead! It’s not noisy when used on the laminate downstairs, but when it’s being used overhead, it’s extremely loud if there’s nothing softening the impact. My Rebounder is available to buy from their online store for £89.95 including free UK shipping for the majority of the mainland.
We were sent the item to review, but all words and opinions are my own.
