If you read my blog regularly or follow me on social media, you’ll know I have 2 bonkers boxer dogs. They are very spoilt and are well and truly more than just pets as far as I am concerned. I spend a fortune on their food, insurance, doggy daycare and whatever else they need. So when I was asked to review Hill’s Science Plan Adult Dog Food, I was happy to agree. Read on to find out what I (and more importantly they) thought of it!
Hill’s Science Plan Adult Dog Food
When we received the 2.5kg bag of the chicken variety, the first thing which struck me was the packaging saying it is vetinary recommended – that made me feel like it must be really good food for dogs. Additionally, I was impressed by fact it had velcro closing. One of my biggest pet peeves about our usual dry dog food brand is that the bag isn’t resealable. So that was one tick for Hill’s Science Plan adult dog food.
The dog food pieces are smaller than our usual brand. The above photo shows them in the palm of my hand for comparison. One of my dogs (Minnie) has a wheat allergy, so only Monty was able to have the Hill’s Science Plan adult dog food we received. They do offer a wheat free version though, so that’s good news for dogs who require hypo allergenic food.

What Did Monty Think?
Monty is a lean, very active 2 year old dog. He gets plenty of exercise, and eats a lot. He is, however very fussy when it comes to food, so I was concerned he’d turn his nose up at the Hill’s Science Plan canine adult dog food. To guage his interest, I firstly gave him some pieces as treats when we were playing a game. He ate them happily.
Later that evening, I mixed the Hill’s Science Plan canine adult dog food in with his usual dog meat, and this happened…
As you can see in the final photo, he is licking his lips! Monty cleared his bowl in record speed! Monty has been having the food for 5 days now, and has cleared his bowl at each and every meal. I am happy to report his toilet habits have remained solid. (Apologies for the overshare, but some dog foods can give him an upset tummy, so I wanted to mention it).
Monty’s coat has always been very soft, thanks to the regular fresh fish he gets, so I haven’t noticed any improvement in his coat. Given the fact it has Omega 3 in the food, I’d say it’s a fair assumption this food may improve your dog’s coat if they don’t have fresh fish on a regular basis. With an RRP of £33.99 for 12kg, this is definitely not a budget dog food. The cost is justified when you look at the ingredients though. You can buy the dog food from various places, including Pets at Home.
All told, I am happy with the Hill’s Science Plan canine adult dog food, and would recommend it as a great option for people who want a complete dry dog food. It is worth double checking the portions though, as my dog needs half the amount of this compared with his usual dry food.
