It’s no secret that I love a good, “chip butty”. (That’s a British Chip – not to be confused with a chocolate chip). A Butty is, of course another term for “sandwich” which is used in Northern England. So when I was asked to collaborate on a VonHaus 1.5l Air Fryer review, I was happy to oblige. Read on to find out what I thought.
VonHaus 1.5l Air Fryer Review
With an RRP of £38.99, the VonHaus 1.5l Air Fryer is much better value than some other air fryers which are available. It can be used with or without oil, which is a big step forward for air fryers as most can’t take oil. The air fryer boasts a detachable non-stick oil tank and frying basket, so it offers easy access and cleaning.
It cooks food with a vapour steam action, so it’s much healthier than a deep far fryer. This provides both low-fat frying and fast results, so it’s perfect for quick meals. As the below photo shows, the VonHaus 1.5l Air Fryer has an adjustable temperature, which goes up to 200°C. This allows you to deep fry, roast, bake or grill your food. The operational light indicator and 30-minute timer allow you to be precise with your cooking, and prevent burning your food.
How It Works
When you plug the air fryer in, you have to set the temperature dial to the requited setting, before turning it on to pre-heat. This takes 5-10 minutes, depending on your required temperature. The above photo shows you the required settings and times, so they are right there on the device.
I have had the air fryer for a week now, and have made chips in it several times. Additionally, I used it to reheat chippy chips. All instances have been a huge success. I’m vegetarian, so I haven’t cooked any meat in the device. I’m very curious to try baking a cake in it, though, so I’ll have to look out for that method!
My thoughts on the VonHaus 1.5l Air Fryer
The air fryer is simple to use and to clean. I love the timer which prevents you burning your food, and the cover on the tray removal. This has been included so you can’t accidentally remove the cooking basket from the oil tray. When you open the cover and press the button, the basket removes and can have a a soapy wash after use. All other surfaces on the air fryer can be wiped with a damp cloth.
As you can see from the below photo, my frozen chips turned out pretty much perfect. They were much more evenly cooked than when using a baking tray, so I’m super happy to recommend this product.
One thing I will say is there is only space to cook enough chips for two people at a time. So if you’d like to make enough chips for all the family, you may want to opt for the 3.5l version.
