EEK! We’ve booked our first ever Winter Wonderland break this weekend! If you follow me on social media, you’re probably aware we’ve recently been to Center Parcs. We love it! We wanted to go for Winter Wonderland last year, but finances didn’t allow. This year, we’ve booked it early, and have decided to forfeit Birthday and Christmas presents in favour of this winter break.
Planning our Winter Wonderland Break
Both DaddyGeek and I are HUGE fans of Christmas, so the idea of twinkling lights, reindeer, hot mulled wine and mince pies round our wood burning fire is enough to keep us both bouncing off the walls for the next 133 days. (Not that I’m counting… honest)!
I have already made a list, and checked it twice! (Not for Christmas presents – We are going a few weeks before the big guy will be delivering gifts). I am busy planning what I need to buy to keep everyone warm and dry while we are there.
On Our Center Parcs Winter Wonderland To Do List
Both Sam and Syd love to spend time outdoors. They love to explore the environment, but they are both very warm blooded. Sam in particular will not tolerate the cold. He gets upset very quickly if he is cold or wet. While we are at Center Parcs, there will be a fireworks display on.
Sam loves fireworks, so he will definitely want to be outside for that, whatever the weather. I think I’ll have to invest in either thermal underwear to layer him up well, or a proper snowsuit to keep him extra toasty and dry. Hopefully we won’t need Ski wear like this!
I’ve been browsing online for some outdoorsy clothing ideas. Dare2b have got an impressive range of children’s snow clothing, and upto 70% off a lot of items. I think the snowsuits for £15 each (reduced from £50 apiece) are a pretty good find. Alas, they don’t have Sam’s size in stock.
For me, I’ll probably wear woolly tights underneath jeans and then my wellies with thermal socks. (Oh the glamour)! I need to get myself a new windproof/waterproof coat as well, though. Hubby got a new outdoorsy coat in the January sales, so he will be fine with that and his jeans and wellies, I guess.
Activities On Our Agenda
So… once we are all kitted out for the Winter weather, what activities are we planning? I think the Santa and Snowman hunt is definitely on the to do list. The festive Carriage Ride is also high on my list of activities. The Festive Teddy Bear’s Picnic is an activity Sydney will love to do, and of course we have to go and visit Father Christmas AND his Reindeer as well! In between all of that, I am looking forward to exploring the forest, indulging in some Mulled Wine and a Mince Pie at Forrester’s Inn, swimming and spending some quality time with the husband and kids!
Ahhhh… Is it November yet?
