Should I Create Blog Posts Using AI? 1 Honest Answer

Sharing is Caring!

Should I create blog posts using AI? This is a Question I’ve been asked a lot lately. If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know I work hard to ensure my website is easy ro navigate for readers, SEO optimised and adheres to all of the required UK rules. So with that in mind, I figured I’d answer this question in it’s very own blog post.

Should I Create Blog Posts Using AI?

I recently wrote a post about why my website traffic tanked, and how I fixed the problem. It boiled down to the fact that I had been hosting guest posts for a long time which – unknown to me, were written using AI. There was a google update in 2024 which made websites which use AI less favoured than those with human-generated content. I presumed I wouldn’t be affected because I wrote all of my own content, but I was wrong.

My traffic tanked massively – I lost almost 75% of my traffic, pretty much overnight. Given that fact, you’d presume that the answer to the question, “should I create blog posts using AI” is a cut and dry no. However it’s not that cut and dry. There’s still plenty of ways you can use AI to HELP you write content, but you shouldn’t be publishing a 100% AI piece in my opinion. Now I’ve covered the basics, I’ll go into ways you can create website content with the help of AI…

How to Create Website Content With the Help of AI

The key phrase to take not of here is, “with the help of AI”. I think I’ve explained now why you shouldn’t be generating your content completely using AI, but let’s get into some ways you can use it to help speed up the process, or inspire your content.

Most people are familiar with ChatGPT, so I’ll base this advice on using that platform… When you need to constantly create content for website or blog posts, it can be hard to come up with new ideas. This is where using AI comes in. You can use ChatGPT to find ideas for potential content.

Get Ideas for Blog Posts Using AI

I typed in, “give me some ideas for a blog post on improving blog traffic”, and ChatGPT brought up 18 different blog post ideas. (This screen shot shows the first 6 potential topics).

Use AI to Research the Topic You’re Writing About

Once you have your blog post title idea, you can use Chat GPT to research what you’re writing about. Don’t copy and paste information, but use it as a basis for the content you write yourself. (Remember Google prefers personalisation, so try to make your content relatable.

If you’re writing about a topic you’re not 100% confident in, chat GPT can help you fill in the blanks. For example, if you’re writing a post titled, “tips for sitting A Levels in the UK”, you may want to include information on the subjects you can get A levels in. Chat GPT can help you collate that.

Always rewrite it though. Once this is done, I use Quillbot to check if passes the AI-free test. If it’s still showing as AI, you’ll need to rewrite it fully. Remember, if the post is detected as being AI generated, google won’t rank it, so it’s not going to bring in traffic via google.

Use AI to Spell and Grammar Check

AI doesn’t only mean ChatGPT. One of my favourite AI services to use when blogging is Grammarly. The free version will read your finished post, and flag up any spelling or grammar errors. The premium version works out at £10/m if you pay annually, but it is definitely a big help with proof reading and making speedy corrections.

This is an amazing tool to help you proof-read posts, quickly and easily.

Final Thoughts on AI Generated Blog Posts

My final piece of advice is to ALWAYS check guest posts haven’t been generated using AI before agreeing to publish them. I use Quillbot for this – it’s a free website which will show you what’s been AI generated, and what’s been tweaked with AI. I find it super quick and easy to use, and it’d by far the most reliable free AI checker available at present. Finally, let me know in the comments if you have any more tips on ways to create blog posts with – or without using AI.
