So keep reading to find out my top tips for adding natural materials to home decor.
Modern Natural Lounge Ideas – Flooring
I’d love to have under floor heating installed, and then have a natural stone floor laid on top throughout the entire downstairs of my home. When you have dogs and kids, I feel this is by far the best option. It’s easy to clean, naturally retains heat, so is more energy efficient, and it will last for decades.

L’Antic Colonial have some stunning natural stone flooring options available. Here’s what they have to say about using natural stone in a modern natural lounge:
Natural stone has a multitude of magnificent properties that, combined with other elements of excellent quality, making it the basis of a great decoration. Choosing natural stone to decorate spaces is not only an aesthetic decision but is also based on the multiple properties this material offers.
At L’Antic Colonial, we are aware that no natural stones are alike, so each one brings different value to the architecture of a home. Because of its exclusivity, since it is impossible for two stones to be identical, natural stone never goes out of style and can remain in the same room of the house without being affected by time.
Modern Natural Living Room Ideas – Walls
The second of my modern natural lounge ideas is to add natural stone to the walls. Natural stone comes in many colours. From browns to greys, whites to orange tones. The blue-grey bathroom wall shown below is absolutely stunning.

Here’s what L’Antic Colonial have to say about natural stone walls:
The tone of natural stone can vary from the darkest shades to the lightest, and this, along with the touch of exclusivity of each unique stone, turns any room into an exceptional place.
When we talk about natural stone walls, besides being a highly distinguished decorative element, we refer to an option that improves energy efficiency since natural stone has thermal properties, contributing to creating a more comfortable and sustainable environment.
For me, I love the idea of having the main wall, which runs between my lounge and dining room covered with natural stone wall slips. Not only will it make this high traffic area less prone to marks and scuffs, but it will add much needed insulation to the external wall. This will make the space warmer during Winter months, as the natural stone will absorb the warmth when the central heating is on, and improve heat retention in the space.

Affordable Ideas
The most affordable way to add some natural elements to your home is with small natural stone vases and accessories, and wooden elements to your accessories. I love adding a large floor standing stone vase to my hallway. This allows me to add some colour to the space with flowers, and the fact the vase is stone means it’s less likely to get broken in this high footfall area.
Wood is of course another great natural material you can add to your home, so it’s worth factoring it into your modern natural living room ideas. I find a wooden framed mirror is a great option to help add natural materials to your lounge. Wood panelling is a popular choice too, but this won’t help as much with energy efficiency.
Final Thoughts
All things considered, I feel that choosing natural materials over manufactured ones is not only better for the environment, but it’s better for your home too. They are more durable, hold their value and make your home more energy efficient. Finally, let me know in the comments if you can think of any other ways of adding natural materials to home decor.
