5 Tips for Skin Care During Pregnancy

Sharing is Caring!

A friend asked me recently what I did for skin care during pregnancy. So today I’m sharing some thoughts and ideas.  Most new mums will easily forget nausea, weight gain, and bad skin conditions once baby arrives. Although nausea passes rather fast, changes to the skin and body are not so fast to disappear. This is why it’s important to find time for good skin care during pregnancy. So read on for some effective skincare tips to help you keep your skin nurtured and healthy.

5 Tips for Skin Care During Pregnancy

Whether you’re worried about cellulite, stretch marks or loose skin, there’s plenty of tips for skin care during pregnancy below.

Embrace skin pigmentation

The change in skin colour during pregnancy is a very common notion. Most pregnant women have reported their tummy and nipples turning dark even in the early stages of their pregnancy. This dark pigmentation effect is known as melasma which is a passing condition once you deliver your bundle of joy. To keep your skin healthy you can lighten it slightly and reduce skin pigmentation by using products that are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. There are no side effects for the mum nor baby, so it’s ideal when you’re considering skin care during pregnancy. The result will also make you feel less nervous about having too dark linea nigra.

Nurture and love your loose skin

Loose skin and weight gain go hand in hand during pregnancy. Even though every single pregnancy is different, most women gain a few pounds and cry over their loose skin. But there’s no need to cry just yet as there are a few effective things you can apply to prevent loose skin. Moisturising regularly during pregnancy is a great skin care during pregnancy tip!

For instance, if you have loose skin you should regularly use natural toning butter that effectively fights water retention and firms cellulite for a smoother appearance. Apply it to all loose areas. Next, drink plenty of water and go for a slow walk every day. This might get challenging in the third trimester, but if you continue with this routine, the results will amaze you.

Combat those stretch marks

Many women see stretch marks as a nasty and tedious downside of pregnancy. However, with properskin care during pregnancy, they can be totally avoided. The moment you’ve found out you’re expecting, start applying some extremely grease cream on the tummy. There’s no need to buy expensive products, natural Shea butter or coconut oil is a fantastic option. They’ll keep your skin constantly hydrated and oiled enough to prevent your tummy skin from splitting. To improve your skin’s elasticity, even more, mums-to-be should be drinking a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.

Get rid of unwanted facial blemishes

Not all future mums can brag about having had meticulous pregnancy skin. Avoid poking and picking your facial skin, especially during pregnancy as they could lead to serious problems like scars. Have in mind that your hormones will be going wild, so you’ll have more new pimples and even acne popping up. Luckily, there is a solution to that. To avoid unwanted breakouts, always drink plenty of water.

Next, always use sunscreen, wash up your face with a quality face cleanser in the morning and night. Next, apply all-natural moisturiser or toner with organic argan oil or aloe Vera gel.

Treat the skin rash accordingly

In rare cases, skin rash can also occur in pregnancy, and if that happens, try to avoid panicking. Skin rashes are the result of genetics, hormones, skin stretching, and blood flow. For mild mishaps, your physician will suggest using safe clindamycin lotion, nourishing creams, and powerful sunblock. When considering skin care during pregnancy, try to keep your body sweat-free, take regular baths, and drink pregnancy vitamins to prevent the rash from spreading. In severe cases, your doctor may prescribe steroid therapy.

Pregnancy is a marvellous condition that comes with its pros and cons. By applying the above-mentioned skincare routines during this state, you’ll be able to enjoy it maximally and be stress-free.
