A few weeks ago, Emma Watson said… “If not me, who? If not now, when?”
It has been stuck in my head ever since.
Last week, I shared a newspaper story about Salford’s only Special
Needs Primary School. The story alleged that 3 pupils had been abused my
staff member(s). I expressed my concerns about this school, and I also said that Salford needs a Special Needs Free School.
I have barely thought or talked about anything else since. I am fed up of moaning about the lack of Autism Provision in Salford, so I have decided it’s time to DO something about it. I strongly believe Salford needs an Autism School, so I am going to apply to have an Autism “Free School” built right here in Salford.
This week, I have been busy spreading the word. I set up a Facebook Page 4 days ago, and over 14,000 people have seen it already. Almost 300 fans have “liked” it. It has been shared by hundreds of people, and I have had lots of messages from people offering to help, sharing their family’s autism journey and backing the idea 100%
It is going to be a crazy amount of work even applying for the Free School to be built. BUT…. Knowing that an Autism School in Salford would benefit so many people, makes it ALL worth while and is spurring me on. So… If things get quiet around here, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
