4 Great Ways to Customise an Apple Watch

Sharing is Caring!

Today I’m sharing some great ways to customise an Apple Watch. It’s no secret that I’m a big geek. I had an original Apple Watch back when they first came out, but when it broke, I didn’t bother replacing it right away. Last year, my heart rate began fluctuating, so after my health issues a few years ago, I decided it was time to invest in another Apple Watch. Read on to find out some of the ways to customise an Apple Watch.

Ways to Customise an Apple Watch

The most obvious of the ways to customise an Apple Watch is to swap out the standard – issue Apple Watch strap with something which is more your own style. A word of warning though – Make sure you buy a decent strap, as the last thing you want is for a cheaper Apple Watch strap to come undone, and your beloved tech fall off your wrist.

Get a New Apple Watch Strap

If you want a more traditional strap style, the WSC have a great range of leather, buckle fastening straps. I was really taken with this Ice White Prowler Apple Watch strap.

I love that you can choose the colour of the watch connectors and the buckle, so your strap matches your Apple Watch perfectly. They also have some lovely stainless steel, woven and silicone straps, too. If you’re feeling extra fancy, WsC also give you the option to add a diamond to your watch strap! That’s a little much for my everyday taste, but it would definitely take a gift from good to amazing.

If you’d prefer a stainless steel, woven or silicone strap, The Watch Strap Co have you covered there too. I know a lot of teenagers who would love their TiK Tok Apple Watch strap!

Swap Your Apple Watch Face

There are loads of cute, quirky Apple Watch faces available to use. Whether you want a more traditional display, or a cute Mickey Mouse figure, which uses its hands as “clock hands”, there’s something for everyone. If you want to swap the standard display on your watch face, you can swap it really easily by following these instructions.

  1. If you’re not already on the watch face display (the screen where you see the time), press the Digital Crown to get there.
  2. From your watch face, swipe left or right from edge to edge to see the watch faces you’ve added to your faces.
  3. Stop when you get to the watch face that you want to use.

If you want to browse for other Apple Watch face options,

  1. When the watch face display is visible (as above), touch and hold the display.
  2. Swipe all the way to the right, then tap the add button the Plus icon.
  3. Turn the Digital Crown to browse all of the watch faces available to you.
  4. When you find a watch face that you like, tap Add. (If the watch face has no customisation options, it will become your current watch face. If it has customisation options, you need to swipe through and adjust available features, colours and such like before activating).
  5. Press the Digital Crown twice to go to your newly added watch face.

Once you’ve chosen the face you want, you can customise the layout…

Customise Your Apple Watch Display

If you use certain apps on your Apple Watch all the time, you can customise your Apple Watch display, so they can be launched from there, with one tap. For example, if you like to keep track of your activity rings, you can have them visible alongside the time.

This is how you edit the displayed icons on your Apple Watch face. Your Apple Watch face is made up of 5 sections, laid out like the 5 dots on a dice. Apple call these 5 sections “Complications”. Apple have a really good set of instructions to customise your Apple Watch face, which you can find here.

Protect Your Apple Watch Screen

While a screen protector isn’t necessarily a way of customising your Apple Watch, I feel it’s super important.
If you’ve found this post on ways to customise an Apple Watch helpful, I wrote a post asking what will you do with your Apple Watch, before Apple Watches became available – some of the ideas in there are laughable now! It’s worth a look.
