Leg day is usually the easiest for most people to skip. They see it as a painful affair, and since we don’t usually understand the importance of maintaining lower body strength, we don’t see any harm in missing out.

Why is it so important to strengthen your lower body?

Your hips, thighs, legs all contribute to providing support to the spine and helping you maintain mobility and posture. When you’re doing leg exercises, you’re activating these muscles and allowing them to carry out their job more efficiently. These exercises provide you with better stamina, balance and lower body strength. So it’s really important to strengthen your lower body.

What are some leg exercises you need to try?

Leg exercises can be hard to understand and stay committed to. So it’s always best to start with simple ones. So we’ve gathered the four exercises that will give you accurate results without exhausting you every day. Over time, you’ll strengthen your lower body and feel stronger if you follow this fitness regime.

Squats:

The squats are a commonly recommended exercise, and their popularity has a reason, they’re highly effective. While squatting, you have to stand with your feet spaced and slowly bend down with your hands stretched out. This is the basic outline for a squat. As you level up, you can introduce more modifications to your routine. This is a simple exercise that concentrates the weight on your hips and thighs and imparts strength into them. At the same time, you’re engaging your core and overall giving your body a bit of endurance.

Hamstring curl:

The hamstrings are easy to forget during a workout but, this is detrimental because these muscles work overtime to support our lower body. For the exercise, you have to lie down with your feet curled around a swiss ball and move it towards your hips. Then, push the ball back out and repeat this motion. This will engage the hamstring muscles and make them stronger. These muscles are easy to injure, so you’ll have to be careful while performing the exercise to strengthen your lower body.

Walking lunges:

While lunges are part of every stretching routine, walking lunges aren’t as widely exercised. They’re almost the same thing. You stand, placing one foot in front of the other, and bend one knee into the ground. Instead of staying there, though, you stand and move forward in this position; then you move back. So, you’re walking while you perform lunges. It’s simple enough, and it does wonders for your lower body. Walking will indeed feel like a breeze after you’ve tried this exercise!

Curtsy lunges:

This exercise is easy enough, and it hits all the right spots to strengthen your lower body. For example, instead of moving forward when making lunges, you have to place one foot beside the other and step sideways while bending your knees. It’ll add a burn to your inner thighs and also make your toes more engaged.

Exercising with proper care:

When doing exercises to strengthen your lower body, it’s important to remain careful. It’s easy to damage or injure a muscle without performing anything too dangerous. Your posture is of prime importance. You will need adequate time to cool down afterwards and hydrate in between reps. Taking the process along slowly will give you time to adjust to the modifications, and within no time, you’ll have the lower body strength to win your local marathon.
