Today I’m sharing some must-see places to visit in Bali. If you’re planning a trip to Indonesia, chances are, Bali is on your itinerary already. But have you considered visiting places that aren’t on the main tourist routes? With that in mind, I am sharing 3 must-see places to visit in Bali, that aren’t necessarily the most well-known.

Whether you’re into beaches, historical importance or religious monuments, there really is something for everyone in Bali. So keep reading to find out my top 3 places to visit in Bali…

Sekumpul Waterfalls and Ubud

Sekumpul Waterfalls is seven stunning waterfalls which cascade down the mountainside. They are located two hours from Ubud, which is known as Bali’s cultural heart. You’ll find Temples, rice terraces, jungle views and plenty of yoga retreats here. It’s a beautiful place which can get busy. That’s why I’d encourage you to head out to Sekumpul Waterfalls if you’re heading to Ubud.

Sekumpul Waterfalls isn’t on most tour guide itinerary because it involves a two hour drive and a good bit of scrambling through the jungle to reach, but it is 100% worth it – if you’re physically able. You’ll find tour guides for hire when you arrive in the parking lot. Many people refuse their pushy services, but I feel that having a local tour guide has its benefits.

To reach the falls, you’ll descend down a steep run of stairs and across a river, before reaching the most incredible waterfalls, with pools you’re able to swim in! Don’t forget your drinking water, hiking boots, swimwear, water shoes, dry bag and towel!

Pura Bratan Temple

It’s known as a place of worship and offerings to Dewi Danu – the Hindu Water, Lake and River goddess. This temple is surrounded by water, and stunning to look at, so it’s well worth the trip in my opinion!

Take me to The Beach… On Gili Trawangan Island

Gili Trawangan Island is around 23 nautical miles (or a two hour ferry ride) from Bali – Indonesia’s best known island. Gili Trawangan Island is often known as Gili T, and it’s one of the three Gili islands, in Lombok. Gili T is entirely pedestrianised, so the only ways around the island are on foot, by bike or by horse. The island has many pristine white-sand beaches, and turquoise sea all around it, which many turtles call their home.

Personally I feel that there are three ways to explore Bali. Most people choose the tourist way, while less chose to explore like locals. I’ve always been a fan of exploring the off the beaten track places. Seeking out the hidden gems in beautiful places has always been my favourite thing to do when travelling, and I think it shows here.
