We were recently asked to review a Betty Spaghetty doll. When we received the Betty Spaghetty Deluxe Mix n Match Pack, I was more than a little excited. I remember playing with my cousin’s dolls back in the 90’s, and was keen to see what my own daughter thought of them.
Betty Spaghetty History
The Betty Spaghetti doll was invented in Ohio, and originally released in 1998. Betty had 2 friends – Zoe and Hannah, as well as a little sister, whose name escapes me. My niece loved them, so I spent hours playing with these dolls when on babysitting duty, and I wasn’t mad about it.
The Betty range was sadly discontinued in 2004. However, it was then rebooted in 2016, and is now available to buy again here in the UK and beyond. Now keep reading for my 2016 review.
Deluxe Mix and Match Pack
There are over 55 pieces included in the Betty Spaghetty Deluxe Mix and Match Pack – You’ll get Betty, Zoe and Hannah dolls, as well as a multitude of parts they can share…
This Betty Spagetty set has an RRP of £29.99 and is suitable for children aged 4 and over. Single dolls are available too, priced from £12.99. When I first saw the packaging, I was a bit confused as to where some of the pieces were, as the boxed product artwork – like the image above, didn’t seem to show anywhere near 55 pieces. Once I had unboxed the dolls, I realised where the extra pieces were hiding….
Included within this set is 3 dolls – with removable limbs and hair, 3x doll stands, so you can stand your dolls up, and lots of hair accessories for your Betty Spaghetti dolls. The dolls have interchangeable outfits, limbs and hair. As previously mentioned, they are called Betty, Zoe and Hannah, but you can make up your own names.
When you push the pieces together, you feel (and hear) them click together. I was really impressed with how easy this was to do. Both of my children can easily pull the dolls apart and re-connect the limbs and outfits.
My daughter is 4, and she has spent hours swapping and changing the pieces – coming up with outfits and letting the dolls swap clothes. The limbs are really bendy so it does take a bit of effort to do this.
Our Thoughts On Betty Spagetty
My son is 5 and Autistic. He has really taken a shine to these dolls and has spent ages exploring them all. He loves the fact the limbs are bendy and he seems to love the hair as well. He’s a big fab of pulling apart the limbs but hasn’t yet mastered putting the Betty Spaghetti pieces back together yet.
All told, I highly recommend the Betty Spaghetty Deluxe Mix and Match Pack. I will definitely be picking up some of the individual dolls to add to our collection and I’d definitely consider buying them as birthday and Christmas gifts for family and friends’ children.
The RRP is fair, but I’ve already seen this set on offer in loads of places, so be sure to shop around for the best price. A quick internet search has shown me this Betty Spaghetty set is currently available for half of the RRP at home bargains. That’s an absolute steal. If you’re more of an online shopper, it’s cheapest online at amazon as of today. Like I say though, shop around for the best Betty Spaghetti prices.
