If you read the blog often, you’ll already know we love dolls. When we were asked to review the Baby Born Mermaid Doll, I had to say yes!
About The Baby Born Mermaid Doll:
The Baby Born Little Sister Mermaid doll has an RRP of £29.99 and is suitable for children aged 3 and over. The doll requires 3x AAA batteries, which are not included. The doll is 32cm tall, and comes with her own tiara and comb. Her head and arms are posable, and her hair is long enough to style.
Rather than spending ages explaining how the The Baby Born Mermaid doll works, I made this video so you can see for yourself…
As the video mentioned, the Baby Born Mermaid doll’s tail only moves when she is in water. I thought ours was broken at first. Thankfully, the included instruction manual soon pointed out where I was going wrong.
Thoughts On The Baby Born Mermaid Doll
I love that the doll has a child – like face and body shape. It’s refreshing to see dolls which aren’t babies, yet look like children. Her face make up is super glittery too. She looks ready for a party under the water!
The Baby Born Mermaid has posable arms and her head can turn from side to side, so its easy to get her to face you when she’s swimming.
Batteries Not Included
The doll does not include the 3x AAA batteries required to make her swim. You’ll need a screwdriver to install them. Make sure you tighten the cover back into place securely, so the doll doesn’t become damaged if water gets inside.
You can see the on / off button on the above photo. When it’s pressed in, the doll is switched on. I found it easy to get this wrong, so if your doll isn’t working, check she’s switched on!
The included accessories are cute, and functional. The comb can be used to tidy up your Baby Born Mermaid’s hair. The Tiara hooks into her hair and makes her look very regal! They are similar colours to the doll’s tail, so everything matches nicely. They also feature the same sparkle effect as the mermaid tail.
The Baby Born Little Sister Mermaid doll is sure to be a hit with any mermaid fan. I can’t help but think it’s a little short lived though. The doll doesn’t swim fast enough to be particularly exciting. She is a good bath time toy though. I can imagine some kids; who aren’t fans of baths may get in with less fuss if she was there to play with.
Honestly: I wouldn’t have bought this doll for my daughter, because she isn’t much of a mermaid fan. I think it’s good fun for those who are really into mermaids though. Furthermore, I can imagine it being brilliant in the Summer, when you have the paddling pool outside.
If you have a mermaid fan asking for this doll, I am sure they won’t be disappointed. Make sure you buy batteries in advance, though!
We were sent the doll to review, but all words and opinions are my own. We were not paid for this review.
