Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua Review – 2 in 1 Mop & Vacuum

Sharing is Caring!

Today I’m sharing my honest Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua Review. In case you’ve not heard of it before, the Unlimited 7 Aqua is a cordless 2 in 1 mop & vacuum! Regular readers will know I’m a solo, work from home parent, with 2 feral boxer dogs and 2 tweens. So it’ll come as no surprise that speed cleaning is the only kind I do!

When I was asked to share an honest Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua Review, I was happy to accept! Anything that speeds up the cleaning process is welcome in this mad-house! Keep reading to find out how I got on with the 2 in 1 mop and vacuum – Bosch Unlimited Aqua 7.

When the courier dropped off the parcel, I was surprised how small it was. I made this video so you can see me unboxing it, for yourself…

Don’t expect to be able to unbox and immediately use the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua – the battery will need charging. It takes 5 hours to fully charge the included 3.0ah. battery, and you get up to 40 minutes of use for that.

How The Cordless Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua Works

Once it’s charged, the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua really comes into its own. There are two main heads included – The motorised brush head and the 2 in 1 Aqua and Vacuum Head. (You can see both heads below).

You’ll also get a flex tube to vacuum all of those awkward nooks and crannies, a crevice nozzle, a mattress nozzle and a 2 in 1 furniture brush & upholstery nozzle. There’s also a wall mountable charging dock included.

The 2 in 1 Aqua and Vacuum Head

The First head I want to discuss as part of my Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua Review is the Aqua head, which boasts 2 in 1 vacuuming and mopping at the same time. This head is great for cleaning quick spills on hard floors. This is what I was the most excited about when I agreed to do this Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua review.

The Vacuum element doesn’t have any brush heads, so while it’s good for loose crumbs, it won’t manage anything that’s stuck down. It’s not suitable for use on carpets or rugs, and care should be taken if using it on laminate flooring.

You can add warm or cold water to the chamber, and you can add your usual floor cleaning products in, too. (Be careful you mix it to the right ratio though, or you could end up with a foam party in the kitchen)!

2 Sets of Mop Pads

The Aqua Head comes with 2 sets of spinning mop pads, which are machine washable. I love that they add two pairs, as this means you won’t be without your mop, when they need washing!

When you first use the Aqua Head, you have to press the button on the top of the head to activate the water supply. Once this is done, the auto water supply means the right amount of water is automatically added to the pads every 20 seconds, so you don’t have to do it. This means your floors will get just the right amount of water (and floor cleaner, if you’ve added it).

This video I made as part of my Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua review shows both the Motorised Brush Head and 2 in 1 Aqua and Vacuum heads in use…

The Motorised Brush Head

The motorised brush head is best for vacuuming hard floors when you want to do a deep clean. It’s also great to use on carpets. You’ll be able to see every crumb, thanks to the LED lights on the front of the motorised brush head! This brush head also boasts anti hair tangle capabilities, so is great if you’ve got someone in the house with longer hair.

There are 3 speed settings for the Vacuum aspect – Auto, Turbo and Eco. (Viewable on the photo further down this page). To get the maximum battery life, eco mode is recommended. This option works fine on hard floors, but I found I needed to use turbo mode to lift dog hair from my living room rug, and hair from the bedroom carpets. It worked really well though.

Filter

The Vacuum unit has a HEPA Filtration System, for cleaner air. As a home with pets and family members with allergies, this is non-negotiable for me. You’ll be amazed the difference it makes to the air quality in your home if you have a vacuum with Hepa filtration.

The Other Tools

Also included with the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua 2 in 1 mop and vacuum are: A flex tube to vacuum all of those awkward nooks and crannies, a crevice nozzle, a mattress nozzle and a 2 in 1 furniture brush & upholstery nozzle. The flex tube is super bendy, which makes it easy to vacuum under heavy furniture, and get the cobwebs from the ceiling!

The 2 in 1 furniture brush and upholstery nozzle slides between “open and closed”, so you can use 1 tool for all your soft furnishing jobs. I’ve not used it on the car yet, but I suspect this will be a big help when vacuuming that.

Things to Consider Before Buying the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua 2 in 1 Mop and Vacuum

There are a few things to think about, before you make your purchase, and I’ll go through them all within this Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua review…

Battery Power

If you’re worried that 40 minutes of run time won’t be long enough to clean your full home, you can purchase a spare battery. The 18v 2.5 ah Bosch Powerforall Battery Pack is down from £60 to £34.99 on Amazon at the moment – a steal at that price! This is slightly cheaper than my spare Shark battery was. (I paid £40 for that).

The batteries are compatible with many Bosch power tools, so you can use those too, if you have any.

Is It Freestanding?

When writing this Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua review, I thought it was worth knowing that although the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua isn’t freestanding, it does have a built in “Easy Parking Clip”. This means you don’t have to put the device back in the docking station or lay it on the floor when you need to take a break.

You can securely rest the device in most places – on the edge of furniture, such as a table, cool radiator or shelf, or even on the back of a chair. The clip’s coated surface prevents scratches and slippage, too. Sadly, if you’re only near a wall, it will likely slide down, so I wouldn’t recommend propping it up there. My Shark Cordless Pet Vacuum Cleaner is also a challenge to prop up mid-use. It’s worth noting, you can fold the Shark in half to make it freestanding, but it does take a couple of seconds to do.

There is a wall mount included with the Bosch, which serves as a charging station and tool holder. I’m about to decorate downstairs, so I haven’t set this up yet. I suspect it’ll be a game changer though, as if you choose not to use the wall mount, the cord you connect directly to the device is a bit fiddly. It’s no worse than my cordless shark though.

Warranty

One thing I spotted when writing this Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua review is the fact that the device includes not only a 2 year warranty as standard, but also a TEN YEAR Motor Warranty! I don’t know about you, but I’ve never had a vacuum cleaner motor last more than 5 years, so this is a huge plus for me!

You do need to remember to register your device within 6 months of purchase to activate the 10 year motor warranty, though, so don’t forget! You’ll also have to keep hold of your proof of purchase.

The Dustbox and Filter

Personally, I found the dustbox to be on the smaller side. It holds less than half of what my cordless shark does, so there Shark wins here, if you’ve got a lot of dog hair to contend with. That said, I love that you can empty the Bosch’s dustbox without creating a dust cloud. You remove the dustbox from the vacuum body, turn the red wheel and empty the dust directly into the bin.

The Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua filter is a doddle to clean too. Thanks to their RotationClean technology, you can clean the filter instantly and hygienically. When you remove the dustbox and turn the red wheel (pictured above) to empty it, the dust and dirt is released from the filter, into the dustbox, which you then tip into the bin.

This is a MUCH easier filter cleaning method than my Shark Cordless’.

Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua Review – The Verdict

So… I guess you’ll want to know my overall thoughts on the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua 2 in 1 mop and vacuum, so let me sum it up for you in one paragraph…

Overall, I think it’s a great product for day to day use, and keeping on top of things. The vacuum element is brilliant and definitely competes with my cordless Shark in terms of performance. It’s brilliant for mopping up spills and wet paw prints, and would be perfect if you have young kids who spill a lot of their food onto the floor.

It’s not going to replace my need to do a proper mop, once a week though, as the circular pads mean the Aqua Mop can’t get into corners, and I don’t feel it’s capable of deep cleaning, as the pads get dirty quickly.

Who’s It For?

I’d definitely recommend it to someone who (like me) hates spending loads of time cleaning, and is looking for ways to speed up the process. It’s also great for working families, where time is of the essence.

I loved that the 2 in 1 aqua and vacuum head could get rid of muddy paw prints at the same time as the bits of grass and dirt the dogs brought into the house. I usually have to sweep up then mop, so I achieved the same results in half the time, thanks to the Aqua Mop!

4 Out of 5

Overall, I’d give the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua 2 in 1 mop and vacuum 4 out of 5 overall. For me, a larger dustbox would have been amazing. Having dogs means the dustbox fills up very quickly.

When I vacuumed upstairs, I had to empty the dustbox twice before I could do the stairs. My upstairs consists of 3 bedrooms – (2 with carpet 1 with vinyl), the landing, 1 small toilet and 1 bathroom – (both vinyl).

It’s worth mentioning I had used my cordless Shark to do these floors the day before, so the Bosch Unlimited motor is definitely working better than my 2 year old cordless Shark’s! My Shark has been very heavily used though, so I’d say that’s down to the sheer amount of dog hairs, thick carpets and heavy use it’s been subjected to, rather than the product itself. I’ve been very happy with it.

Pulling Power

Downstairs, I have a narrow hallway, lounge, dining room and kitchen. (They are all hard floors, but I have a large, thick rug in the lounge). The Motorised Brush Head made light work of the floors and rug! It needed emptying twice, and most of that came from the large rug.

Overall, I’m really happy with the device, so if you’re considering a 2 in 1 device, the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua 2 in 1 mop and vacuum is definitely a strong contender! I hope you’ve found this Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua review helpful.

4 Months Later

I’ve been using this for 4 months now so I thought I’d share an update:

I haven’t really used the mop element all summer, as muddy paw prints haven’t been an issue, and I prefer a traditional mop and bucket for deep cleaning the floors. I’ve found myself using the Bosch downstairs where the dogs live, as it definitely performs better on the rug than my old cordless vacuum does now.

The Bosch battery lasts up to 40 minutes in eco mode, which is fine for hard floors. I find that you need it on normal on regular carpet, and turbo on areas with pet hair and deep pile carpet. When it’s on turbo, you don’t get 10 minutes use per charge. I’ve not timed it, but I’d say it’s around 5-8 minutes, max when in turbo mode.

I find myself using my cordless Shark to vacuum upstairs and on the stairs, to save the Bosch for the areas with lots of dog hair. (The Shark’s battery life is around double that of the Bosch, so I’d definitely plan on buying a spare Bosch battery if you like to run the vac round the whole house in one go, like I do).

  1. That looks fantastic, anything that makes cleaning faster and easier is a bonus in my eyes. Even better if I can train the kids to use it 😉 I haven’t used anything Bosch before, it looks impressive.

  2. This looks like an essential household product – will be investing! Thanks for the review!

  3. Ok what is good:
It works well and cleans well and easy to use
Cons: Take 5 hours to charge and on maximum power it works for 10 minutes,
    Not good for me.

  4. I bought this based on your review and so far it’s been great! I love hoovering and mopping now. Only thing is I’m not getting the pads washed and dried before I want to mop again. I wonder if anyone has found replacements that are not Bosch- so I could have 4 sets of pads ? The Bosch ones are quite expensive.
