Today I’m sharing some tips for storing luggage in Dublin and on city breaks. If you read my blog regularly, you’ll already know I love to share travel tips. So when a friend asked me recently if I knew of anywhere offering luggage storage in Dublin, I decided to write this post.
One thing I have learnt when indulging in city breaks in the UK is that it’s important to make the most of every bit of time. So when the hotel has a 10am checkout time, but my train home isn’t until 3pm, I often use Radical Storage to find somewhere I can leave my luggage for a few hours. I used it in Edinburgh last year and paid £5 to leave my bags at Waverley Station for the last few hours of my visit. It gave me time to visit Edinburgh Castle, before heading back to the train station to retrieve my bags and board my train home.
Tips for Storing Luggage in Dublin
Getting back to Dublin, when my friend asked for help, I did a quick search and found plenty of places offering luggage storage in Dublin, from as little as €5.65 per small shopping / tote bag, or €6.75 per suitcase, including insurance. Strollers, bikes and other oddly shaped items cost €7.75 per day, including insurance.
The main benefit of using a luggage storage is the peace of mind that my valuables are safely stored (and insured), while I make the most of the remaining time on my trip. Being able to navigate the City without my luggage means I can really explore, without being weighed down or held back by bags. I have also used luggage storage Barcelona, and found that to be brilliant as well. My Sister used luggage storage Madrid in 2024 and found that great too.
Luggage storage is ideal for International travelers and urban tourists, people with long layovers, or those who arrive early to their accommodation, or have to check out a good while before they depart. It’s also a good option for digital nomads, influencers or event attendees, who may need to move around the city without their luggage.
How it Works
The first thing you need to do is head to the Radical Storage website to choose the luggage drop-off point that best meets your needs, and book your slot. You can either choose a specified drop off / collection time, or pay an extra €3 for any time drop off and collection, and same day bookings are accepted.
To secure your luggage drop off booking, you can pay via card, Apple Pay, PayPal, Revolut Pay or Satisfy. (You pay at the time of booking, not at drop-off). On the day and time of your booking, you arrive at your drop off point and show your booking confirmation. You’ll then be shown where to leave your bags, then off you go! You can then collect your bags at any time during opening hours (on your selected pick up day), by showing your booking confirmation.
Other Luggage Storage Options
It’s worth noting that some hotels do offer a complementary luggage storage option to their customers, so you may want to consider this. I had a bad experience in Portugal though, where my bags were ransacked, so I am always reluctant to use hotel storage when the room is accessible to other hotel guests and not just staff.
It’a also worth double checking your travel insurance policy, as some won’t include coverage if you leave your bags unattended in an insecure place. My friend found this out the hard way when her bags were stolen in a Prague hotel luggage room, and her insurer refused to replace anything, even though she got the police involved.
Final Thing to Consider When Booking Luggage Storage in Dublin
The final thing worth remembering when you’re looking for somewhere to leave your bags in Dublin is to make sure you triple check the opening and closing times. The last thing you want to do is arrive ten minutes after they’ve closed for the night.
