Today I’m sharing some travel experiences to enjoy before the kids grow up. Family travel isn’t just about ticking off destinations on a list. It’s about creating those little moments you’ll talk about and reflect on for years to come. Plus, it allows you to reconnect and spend quality time with each other, which is always a benefit!
Whether it’s the kids’ first time seeing the sea or exploring a new city, these sorts of experiences shape how children see the world.

Classic UK Adventures That Never Get Old
You don’t necessarily need to jet off somewhere in order to create family memories. There are plenty of different experiences available throughout the UK which still deserve a spot on your family’s bucket list.

Something simple, like a beach day at the coast, can be just as fun as a trip abroad, providing equally as special memories, and in some cases, costing a fraction of the price. Local castle visits and exploring the Lake or Peak District are also popular options amongst families.
These sorts of trips are perfect for those after something a tad easier than a holiday abroad but still want to make lifelong memories.
Big City Breaks with a Kid-Friendly Twist
A lot of people presume city breaks aren’t ideal for little ones with all the walking and shopping-based activities. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Whilst some cities are more suited towards adult-only breaks or those with teenagers, it’s still possible to take the kids and have just as much fun.

Cities are often home to lots of family-friendly activities, including interactive museums and game-based attractions. These can keep children engaged while still being fun for adults.
For little ones obsessed with history, things like ruins or old archaeological sites can be intriguing and spark their imagination. Many cities also have great transportation links, making day trips to other nearby regions possible, too.
Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience Worth the Splurge
Naturally, some experiences on your bucket list may be more expensive than others. Things like theme park visits or travelling abroad for sunny escapes can quickly add up, but are arguably worth it in return for the memories.
Recent trends across the UK suggest that families are now seeking experience-led holidays where they can take part in activities and learn about local culture. For busy parents, all inclusive holidays are ideal as they lump everything together. As a result, you also tend to avoid the stress of planning, as most packages include flights and accommodation, as well as food and hotel entertainment.

More often than not, all-inclusive holidays also include child-friendly activities in the form of a kids’ club, leaving parents with the option to fully switch off and relax, or head out to explore the local area.
Outdoor Adventures to Do Before The Kids Grow Up
For those with very active little ones who never tend to stop, outdoor adventures and nature-based activities can be a great addition to the bucket list. Experiences such as camping or hiking can be perfect for creating core memories and teaching them necessary life skills.
Think about activities that can also help burn their energy. Rock pooling on a local beach or bike rides around nearby forests can be fun and also have an educational aspect when you link in things like wildlife spotting. You could even try a new sport together and partake in things like paddle-boarding or surfing lessons.
If your kids are a bit older, hiking up mountains such as Snowdon and letting them lead the way can teach them navigation skills and give them a sense of responsibility too.
