We weren’t sure how Sam would react to Bonfire Night so we didn’t want to take him to a big event.
Seeing as his bedtime is 7pm, we knew he probably wouldn’t last much later than this.
We opted to have a small fire in our fire pit in the back garden
& watch everybody else’s fireworks (our garden has lots of trees
& decking so it’s not safe for us to let off our own).
I baked potatoes & put them in the fire afterwards to get them
charred & smoky, hubby toasted some marshmallows & I made us big
mugs of hot chocolate too.
We wrapped Sam up well so he could enjoy the fun too.

Sam Pre Bonfire
We all went outside & hubby lit a Sparkler which Sam watched in awe.
He was smiling away. (I didn’t manage to get a photo of this).
After 20 minutes of happily watching the bonfire, he did his usual trick and fell fast asleep.
We were expecting this, and popped him into his bouncer with a blanket (Well away from the fire & well wrapped up).

Sam slept happily for an hour, while we had our potatoes, marshmallows & hot chocolate.
Then he woke up & was a bit chilly so we decided to call it a night.
We put out the fire & ran Sam’s bath.
While it was running, Sam was in fine spirits & I managed to get a couple of cute post bonfire photos of him.

After all the excitement, he went straight to sleep after his bath.
All in all, I am very glad we didn’t take him to a proper display, but I
am equally happy we did something to mark his first Bonfire Night.
