Since discovering that Sam has Autism, I have been reading a lot of Autism blogs and speaking to a lot of Autism families about their experiences. One person who has given me an amazing insight into his personal Autism journey is Ben. Ben has written this guest post for me, which outlines his experience, and his new blog to you. It’s such an amazing insight to see the world through Autistic eyes. Don’t you think?
The World Through Autistic Eyes
‘My names Ben, I’m a 19 year old lad who has been blogging with one intention. To help people understand how my mind works. You see the reason I do this is because I have ADHD, ODD, Aspergers, depression and anxiety. Like many other people on the spectrum I often go misunderstood.
Now I’m not saying that all people with autism are the same because that is dead wrong. But I hope explaining the reasoning behind some of the things that I think, feel and do may shed a little light on other peoples actions. I’m also more than happy to answer any questions you have.
I got my diagnosis when I was 11 but everyone who knew me was aware of my needs well before the doctors. Since then I have been doing what everyone else does, school, college, job searching, trying to make friends and everything else.
School and college
I found school and college hard, I’m not going to lie but I’m happy that I stuck at it. I have a wonderful mum who has struggled with her own mental health issues as well yet has always been there for me. There are no stronger people in the world than an autism mum.
Currently I have taken a break but I’m now eager to get back into education working towards my degree in my own way. I’ve never really thought of myself as a writer and English has always been one of my toughest subjects so my writing ability isn’t the best but there goes so much time, effort and emotion into my posts. If you’re interested in reading more about what the world is like through the eyes of someone on the spectrum then please come and read my blog. blog.anautisticauthor.co.uk
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you over at my blog soon,
Thanks again Ben for sharing your take on the world through Autistic eyes.
