5 Great Ways to Make Your Bedroom Calmer

Sharing is Caring!

If like me, your life is really hectic, these tips to make your bedroom calmer will help no end. One thing which I have found essential when it comes to keeping the bedroom calm; is to minimise clutter. A clear space definitely helps me to keep my mind clear at bedtime. Keep reading for more tips to make your bedroom calmer.

Great Ways to Make Your Bedroom Calmer

Many people have the ability to fall asleep anywhere. Unfortunately, I’m not so lucky. Personally, I need to unwind before I can drift off to sleep. When I first moved into my house, I stripped off a layer of wood-chip and found a really bright, busy retro wallpaper underneath. It looked stunning but definitely didn’t make for a calm, relaxing room.

Consider Flooring Options

Flooring is super important when it comes to creating a calm space. Carpet may be the obvious choice, as it’s warm and comfortable underfoot, but it’s also a dust magnet. If you (like me) have pets or allergies, carpet isn’t always the right choice.

That said, I hate how cold laminate flooring is during the Winter. So for that reason, I am debating either natural wood flooring, or a carpeted bedroom floor. I absolutely love Herringbone style flooring, so I think that’ll be what I go for if I went with natural wood, but I’ve also been considering carpet tiles from www.carpettilewholesale.co.uk – Such a cost-effective option.

Comfort is Important

One of the most important things is to make sure your bed is comfortable. For me, this means a medium support mattress with a memory foam top. I also find a feather duvet helps me to sleep. The extra weight of the duvet seems to help relax me, so I drift off to sleep easier.

Calming Scents

The final thing I’d say is essential when it comes to creating a calm bedroom is to opt for a calming scent. For me, food in the bedroom is a no-no. I hate walking into my bedroom and smelling food. Personally, I’m not a fan of candles, due to the associated fire risks, so I opt for a plug-in wax melt system.

Scents which include lavender, sweet pea and eucalyptus are my personal favourites. Many of my friends and family like to have vanilla and perfume based scents in their bedrooms though. This really is a personal thing. The smell of fresh bedding is also something which I find really soothing. I find that using a spray like febreeze, or similar makes a real difference.

Choose Your Wallpaper Carefully

The photo above shows the retro wallpaper which was in my bedroom when I first moved in. While I absolutely loved the colours and pattern, it wasn’t helping me relax. I have spent months looking for new wallpaper, and have fallen in love with some of the skins wallpaper range.

I absolutely love wallpapered walls, rather than painted ones. I live in an old house, and the plaster isn’t the best. So to get the flawless finish, I’d have to spend thousands replastering every room. Luckily for me, wallpaper hides a multitude of sins.

I’m thinking I need this Bamboo Mural behind my headboard, and then a neutral, textured, cream wallpaper on the other 3 walls. I’ll choose a colour which compliments the mural, of course.
