I know lots of my readers love a good festival, so today I’m sharing what I know about this year’s Out There festival, in Great Yarmouth. One thing I love is a good festival. Admittedly, my days of heading to Leeds Festival are well and truly behind me now, but that doesn’t mean I’m too old to have some festival fun.
Out There Festival in Great Yarmouth
Out There Festival is completely free and is running from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th September 2021. You can join in the fun in the following places over the course of the weekend… Cobholm (Friday only), The Market Place, Marine Parade, St George’s Park, The Drill House, and some secret locations, yet to be discovered!
“An International Festival of Circus and Street Arts comes to Great Yarmouth”
The ‘Out There’ international festival of circus and street arts, sponsored by Visit Great Yarmouth, is returning to the streets of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk for the 13th year.

Known to be weird, wonderful, outstanding, and outrageous… The Out There Festival will bring some of the world’s finest circus and street art performers to Norfolk, where people can enjoy their performances, for free.
This year’s programme is filled with exciting, high-energy, contemporary circus and outdoor arts. It’s fusing together culture identities that exist within Great Yarmouth. The Festival is being funded by Arts Council England, and supported by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Norfolk County Council.
Highlight circus acts include Orquesta De Malabares and Godzillatown.
Godzilla: The giant, rogue Gorilla we all know was born 67 years ago on the coast of Japan. He now arrives at the coast of Great Yarmouth. So don your Godzilla mask, and join in the monkey business, as you stampede through a city maze.
Orquestra is a show involving dancing jugglers, while a brass band play punk, funk, pop and blues. Visitors will discover a unique blend of music and circus, where absolutely everyone is out of their comfort zone. Oequestra brings together sincerity and comedy – an unexpected delight from six jugglers and a brass band.
What to Expect at Out There Festival
“Out There”, is now the biggest free festival in the region. It’s also pretty much the biggest programme of circus in the UK, which regularly attracts 60,000 people. This year, visitors can expect to experience the same quality atmosphere, but with tweaks in operations such as some areas restricted to bookings only and social distancing measurements.
“It is a truly intercontinental festival featuring a host of international and UK acts, many of which are UK and world premieres”, says Joe Mackintosh, Chief Executive for “Out There Arts” and Artistic Director of the Out There International Festival of Circus & Outdoor Arts.

“Out There Arts” is also the UK’s foremost producer of new street arts and circus work. With companies from all over the world making shows in the Drill House year-round. The Drill House is the UK’s only full-time dedicated “creation space” for street arts and circus.
“Out There Festival” is unique in the UK, and they guarantee you will see things here that you won’t anywhere else in the country.
There will be a later license for the beer tent in the park, sponsored by local brewery Lacons who are providing their famous ales plus lagers, ciders. They are supported by Norwich’s best bar Gonzos, with a selection of their legendary cocktails.
I don’t know about you, but I wish I lived in Norfolk, right now. If you head down to Out There Festival this weekend, let me know how much fun you have!
