Day 4 of #Blogtober has the prompt “into the groove”, so today I’m sharing my housework Spotify playlist. It’s packed full of old skool dance tunes from the late 80’s through to the 00’s, which definitely help keep me motivated when I’m doing chores or decorating. So read on for an insight into which tunes get me moving!
My Housework Spotify Playlist
My housework Spotify playlist currently has 94 songs on there. I am always adding to it though, so I suspect it’ll pass 100 soon enough. Rather than list all 94 songs, I figured I’d just share the playlist here so you can listen yourself if you want to…
I’m almost 37 now, so this music was the soundtrack to my childhood and teen years. Being the youngest of 6 kids, music was always a big thing in my life. My dad was a DJ in the local club scene back in the day too. So that probably played a part in my love of music as well. I’m more of an indie / rock fan myself, but I’m partial to some old skool when I’m trying to get jobs done or driving.
I’ve got 3 Echo Dots dotted around the house, so I play it on all 3 devices. That way I can hear it wherever I am, without it being on too loud – so cool!
I’ve been doing a bit of co-hosting and radio presenting for the past couple of years now, and I’d love to do more. I had to cancel all of my studio time when lockdown happened, as I didn’t have childcare to still record in studio. I’ll be back on BBC Radio Manchester later this month though, so that’s a step in the right direction at least. I suspect it’ll be a long time until I can commit to my own show again though. (That was on Salford City Radio).
How Music Helps Me Concentrate
Some people need peace and quiet and no distractions when doing their chores. I’m not one of them though. For me, music which keeps me dancing and singing along is best to keep my motivation levels up when doing jobs I hate. (Like cleaning and decorating).
What’s on my Housework Spotify Playlist?
As much as I’d love to include a list of the songs currently on my playlist… I can’t copy and paste them in, so a few sneak peeks will have to satisfy your curiosity. You can always click here to go directly to the playlist if that’s easier.
Here’s a few of the songs on this playlist…
- Insomnia – By Faithless
- Breathe – The Prodigy
- Pump Up The Jam – Technotronic
- Right Here Right Now – Fatboy Slim
- Gypsy Woman (She’s homeless) – Crystal Waters
- Where’s Your Head At – Basement Jaxx
There’s no rhyme or reason to the order of the playlist. It’s just the ones which popped into my head first at the top, and others lower down. I usually put it on shuffle so each track is a surprise!
Do You Have Playlists?
I’m a sucker for a good playlist. I even have one full of classical stuff which I play when I’m out to keep the dogs calm. They bark at every person walking by, so I used to play the radio to cover the noise of people passing. Until Ring launched an advert full of their blummin’ doorbell sound. So now they bark every time that advert comes on (which is way more often than people walk by).
Finally, feel free to save my playlist to your favourites if you use Spotify, and let me know if you’d like more playlist type posts.
