This month, I joined in with a group of bloggers all attempting to do Jillian Michaels’ 30 day shred every day. The challenge was nicknamed Shredtober. I thought that the 20 minute workout would be easy to fit into my day, and I was looking forward to starting it. I spent ages online looking at activewear, too. In the end, I decided to wear normal leggings and a tshirt to do the workouts.

Shredtober

My kids don’t like to sleep, so getting up earlier to do it would have meant 4am starts. With that in mind, I waited until Sam was napping and popped Syd into the travel cot on day 1. Syd spent the entire time screaming the house down. It was not a pleasant experience for either of us.

Day 2, I waited until both Sam & Syd were napping together and then began. 5 minutes in, Syd woke up and spent the rest of the workout screaming for me. (She was on the other side of the baby gate). Day 3 and 4 were almost the same as day 2. Physically, I was achy but I felt ok after each workout.

What Happened Next?

Day 5, I was too tired to do the shred as the kids refused to nap. I completed day 6, but pulled something in my abs. I could barely move by day 7, and it took about 5 days for the pain to subside. Today should be day 16. I have only completed 5 out of 16 workouts. I’m rubbish!

Yes, I could sit here and give you 500+ excuses as to why I haven’t done it, but the long and short of it is that I didn’t want to. By the time both kids are asleep, it’s usually 9pm, and the idea of prancing round doing an exercise video then is not appealing. I think I am going to have to reassess my fitness regime – again!

Finally, if you enjoyed this post, check out more of my ramblings here.
