I was recently sent some products from the John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start collection to review. I received the hydrating shampoo, conditioner and the secret agent perfecting creme. I was also sent the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Root Booster.
I have got very long, thick, coloured, frizz prone hair. I have also got a sensitive scalp. My hair usually takes almost an hour to straighten, so it doesn’t get done very often. It spends a lot of time in two plaits.
I took this before photo of my hair to show you how it looks when I wash it with normal shampoo and let it dry naturally. The after photo shows it after I have used the Frizz Ease shampoo, conditioner and the secret agent perfecting creme. I let it dry naturally, and then straightened it. It took me around 20 minutes to straighten it – less than half of what I usually have to spend on it.
My hair is in desperate need of a cut, so the split ends in the after image are not a reflection on the product, just my overwhelming need for a good cut!
As the photo shows though, my hair is much less frizzy! I was actually amazed at just how much flatter than normal my hair was. I was also impressed that it survived 10 hours travelling on hot, busy trains, got rained on, and was still 99% frizz free.
I was expecting it to look greasy the next day, but it didn’t. My hair was still looking as good on day 3 as it did on day 1. I am definitely a convert!
The Secret Weapon is my new best friend. It is a bit like a serum. You put it on your hair after styling and it smooths it down and makes it look very shiny. You concentrate on the ends of your hair, not the roots. It genuinely made a huge difference. I popped a bit on each morning, and it refreshed my hair and made it look just styled. A little goes a long way though!
All told, I highly recommend this collection if you have frizz prone hair. I should add that it wasn’t great for my sensitive scalp, but most shampoos irritate it too.
If you are looking for new styles for your hair type and length, there are some funky tips on the John Frieda Youtube channel. I am going to try and use their fishtail plaits tutorial very soon. I will let you know how I got on with that! I will also let you know how I get on with the root booster once I have used it. I rarely blow dry my hair though, so that may be a while, yet.
This is not a sponsored post. I was sent the products to review, but all words and opinions are my own.
