Our Journey to Windsor to Tefal HQ

Last week, Sydney and I headed down to Windsor to Tefal HQ. We had to leave at 5.30am, and spent the morning on Trains, Tubes and buses. Luckily for me, the lovely Pippa from Red Rose Mummy, and her daughter were amazing travel buddies and knew London a LOT better than I do, and we made it to Windsor in plenty of time.

We arrived at Tefal HQ just before 11am. Once inside, we met up with some other lovely bloggers, who have also become Tefal Innovation Panelists. We had a great time. The Tefal team told us all about the company’s history, and reminded us about the Egg Head adverts from back in the day – remember those?

Next, the team showed us how amazing their Pro Express Turbo steam generator iron is. This demo was followed by another – this time showing us how to successfully fry an egg without oil – I kid you not! I recreated this at home, in the Tefal solo pan I received in my goodie bag…..

We were also shown the actifry, and got to sample lots of food cooked in it. The Fresh Express Max is what got me the most excited, though!

Before I had the kids, I loved cooking. Having two babies under two makes it somewhat challenging to cook from scratch every day, though. (For me at least… I am veggie, Syd is dairy/soya intolerant and Sam won’t eat anything white)! We have started to rely heavily on frozen veg. The pre chopped onions, peppers and mushrooms, in particular. It costs me a fortune.

The Fresh Express Max turns the 15 minute cry-fest that is chopping onions into a 20 second, tear free process. It also grates a block of cheese in seconds, without any big, bulky food processor tubs to wash, or fit in the dishwasher! No more pre-grated cheese will be brought into this house – Brownie promise! (Yes, I went to brownies…. just long enough for my Mum to buy me the uniform, then I quit).

Anyway…. Getting back to our day at Tefal HQ: After we saw the fab product demos, we were all treated to an amazing lunch. As a veggie, I blocked out the meaty bits, but the thing that sticks in my mind most was a platter of veggies cooked in the actifry – potato, sweet potato, parsnip, carrot, onion. It was delicious! I have tried to re-create this at home since, and my remake was pretty tasty too – DaddyGeek approved, anyways!

Once we had all eaten and had a natter, it was time to brave the journey back up North. It involved trains, tubes and buses, but we made it home in one piece! It was a very long day, but I had an amazing time, and am beyond excited about what is in store next Month!

Tefal are having an “Fresh Week” from the 13th to the 19th May. The idea is, you pledge to eat fresh food all week – nothing processed, etc. I will blog about this in more detail nearer the time, but if you want to join in, you can win a Fresh Express Max AND a box of fruit and veg if you pledge to eat fresh for the week!

The lovely team at Tefal have sent all of the Tefal Innovation
Panel members an actifry, a Pro Express Turbo Iron and a Fresh Express
Max. I am in kitchen gadget heaven at the moment! I have been busy
concocting actifry recipes, chopping (and dicing) stuff in the Fresh
Express Max, and ironing things to within an inch of their lives.

DaddyGeek is beginning to think Tefal brainwashed me or something – I am never enthusiastic about ironing, but I did it happily this week!

I will be reviewing all of my Tefal Products in the coming Months. Stay tuned for those, as well as my planned recipes for Fresh Week!

The other Tefal Innovation Panel Members are:
Red Rose Mummy, Boo Roo and Tigger Too, Crazy With Twins, Romanian Mum, madamegourmand, Jacintaz3, Emmy’s Mummy, Seasider In The City, Recipe Junkie, Attachment Mummy, The Madhouse

This is not a sponsored post. I was provided with a goodie bag for attending the event, and the products mentioned, but all words and opinions are my own.
