If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know I am a big fan of wooden toys. I’m not sure if it’s the fact my dad was a joiner, or whether I’m just a fan of traditional toys, but either way, I can’t get enough of them. When we were asked to review the Casdon Woodplay Barn set, I was very excited.

The set has an RRP of £25 and is suitable for children aged 3 and over. Rather than spending ages trying to explain what is included and how good the quality is, I made this little video so you can see for yourself…

Casdon Woodplay Barn set

As you can see, the Casdon Woodplay Barn set is solid and very well made. Each piece is smooth, and splinter – free. The finish is beautiful and the images are stuck – fast. Some wooden toys lose the images very quickly, but that hasn’t happened here. I love the fact that the outside of the set is decorated just as well as the inside part is.

The set is really easy to open – My daughter, Syd is almost 4 and she manages it easily. She loves the fact she can close it up and carry it around easily. Sydney seems to really enjoy playing with this set. She spends ages singing “Old McDonald” as she plays – it’s super cute.

All told, I think this set is brilliant quality and great value. I especially love the fact that all the pieces can all be packed away inside the barn, so no bits get lost. It’s a great size for taking to Grandma’s, and I bet older relatives will get a little nostalgic when they see this toy.

It’s so refreshing playing with a traditional style toy, which doesn’t need batteries or lots of assembly – Two thumbs up from me, Casdon! The fact it isn’t gender specific also made me smile. All in all, I’d highly recommend this toy and will definitely be keeping an eye out for some of the other toys in the Casdon Woodplay range. The Doll’s House, tool box and castle are all on my wish list – Erm… I mean the kids’ lists – honest! Finally, read more of our reviews here.

I was sent this item to review – all words and opinions are my own.
