I’m sure it’ll come as no surprise to hear that my 6 year old, Syd was beyond excited at the prospect of doing a Rollplay Nighthawk Review. In case you’re not familiar with them, I’m going to share Rollplay’s blurb…
Rollplay Nighthawk Review
“Master the thrill of the ride with the 12 Volt Nighthawk Ride-On from Roll play! Reaching forward speeds of up to 6 miles/12kmh per hour, this innovative ride-on is sure to be a hit with little thrill- seekers. Gas and brake pedals allow the rider to control the speed of the Nighthawk with ease. Kids will love learning how to manoeuvre around obstacles with the unique steering technique — lean left and right to do quick turns. Side handlebars allow your child to remain secure while protecting his or her hands. There’s an included rear safety flag, so you can easily keep an eye on kids as they have a blast racing. Simply plug in the included charger to the 12V battery to re-power the ride-on.”
Rather than explaining how it works, we made this video so you can see Syd’s first use for yourself.

Syd’s Rollplay Nighthawk Review:
I thought that it was only fair for Syd to share her own Rollplay Nighthawk review, seeing as she was the one riding it, so…
Q: Was it scary when you first got on the Rollplay Nighthawk?
A: Yes – it’s wobbly and took me ages to get used to balancing. I practiced balancing when it was off, and then I could do it properly after that.
Q: So how fast does the nighthawk go?
A: SUPER FAST! It’s cold when you’re on it cos the wind hits you.
Q: Do you like your Rollplay Nighthawk?
A: YES! It’s the best thing ever! I cant wait to let my friends have a go!
This video is taken from an action cam, which was strapped to Syd’d head. Check out the fun from the rider’d perspective!
When I first opened the Rollplay Nighthawk, I was surprised by how flat it is. The flag is removable, so it doesn’t take up anywhere near as much space as most ride on toys do. The battery took around 8 hours to charge, and we got a good 80 minutes use for that.
One thing which is absolutely essential in my opinion is full safety gear. Syd was sent a helmet, elbow, knee and wrist pads as part of the Rollplay Nighthawk Review, and I’d say they are a must have. Syd hasn’t fallen off her Rollplay fully, but she did land on her wrist a couple of times.
It was pretty scary watching Syd zip around the park on her Nighthawk, but she soon mastered it, and was so courteous of other pedestrians.
With an RRP of £179, the Nighthawk isn’t cheap, but it is great fun, and feels like it’ll last for years!
All told, I’d definitely recommend it for any adrenaline junkies out there! Finally if this Rollplay Nighthawk Review has been useful, you can read more of my reviews here.
