Today I’m sharing my Odeon Newbies Review. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so when I heard the final film was being released, I HAD to go – regardless of the fact I have a 6 week old son!! So I set about researching baby friendly cinema showings.

I am not brave enough to go to the cinema by myself & none of my close friends or family like Harry Potter enough to go to the cinema to watch it with me. When I heard Odeon Cinemas did Newbie screenings, (Baby friendly film screenings – lights up slightly and the surround sound turned down a bit so it doesn’t terrify them), I was crossing everything they’d show
Harry Potter, so I could do an Odeon Newbies Review.

To my delight, I spotted one of the cinemas fairly local to me (10 miles away) was showing it in 3D, Newbie Style. I booked my ticket online last week (You pay for your own adult ticket & the baby is free). It cost £8.80 for my ticket, plus a 75p online booking fee, and £1 for 3D glasses – but you keep those. (This wasn’t gifted – I paid for it myself)!

Heading to The Cinema For Odeon Newbies

When Wednesday 20th July rolled around, I packed up Sam’s bag with a couple of bottles, his Dummy and some nappies and off we went. I didn’t know what to expect, and had no idea if he would let me see any of the film, but I was very excited nonetheless.

When we arrived at the Cinema, I put on my baby sling and popped him in. By the time I got into the cinema, he was asleep.
I printed off my ticket (You need to take the debit card you booked online with) and collected my 3D glasses and then headed for the popcorn stand.

It cost me £6.85 for a regular drink & popcorn, but I didn’t mind paying that much as the guy serving was lovely – he offered to carry my things to my seat for me, and to get my cash out of my purse – I was juggling Sam’s bag, the sling, the tickets and 3D glasses by this point, remember!!

I arrived 15 minutes before the Film’s scheduled start time, and I was the first person in there!! I made myself comfy and positioned all of Sam’s things within easy reach, should I need them during the film. When the trailers started, Sam slept on through them!! (We were still the only 2 people in the 300 + seater Auditorium!!) At this point I thought my Odeon Newbies Review would be easy!

A few minutes into the film, 2 other mums arrived, each with a baby in a car seat. They took seats just behind me & Sam.

Sam remained asleep until well over an hour into the film, when he woke up & cried briefly. I took him out of the sling & gave him a cuddle before popping him on my lap, where he fell asleep for the remainder of the film.

One of the mums behind me breast fed her baby while watching the film – I heard her telling the baby to hold on while she got her boobie out – I wasn’t watching or anything lol!!

So….. The film itself was AMAZING, but the Newbies screening was also fabulous! My only gripe is the lack of information on it on the Odeon website. I had no idea if I could take a baby seat or not, so chose not to in case it was busy. Next time i’d take it so Sam has somewhere comfy to sit. The Odeon customer service line is also awful – unless the Cinema you
intend to visit is in a town beginning with A! That’s the only negative point in my Odeon Newbies Review.

I will definitely be taking Sam to Newbie showings again in future, so thank you to Odeon for providing us with this service!
