This week, I have been using the MyFitnessPal iPhone app to track my food and exercise.
It is a free app which allows you to input your food eaten, and exercise
done to help with weight loss as part of a calorie controlled diet.
It works alongside the My Fitness Pal website, and has some brilliant features not found on many of the weight loss apps.
I particularly loved the barcode reader.
You can scan barcodes to quickly and easily record the foods you consume.
This works via the camera on your phone.
You can also record any exercise you do and it will calculate how many calories you burnt.
At the end of each day, it tells you how much you’d weigh in 5 weeks’ time if every day was the same as that day.
The app also tells you what your nutritional intake for the day was –
brilliant if you are following a low fat, low carb or low calorie diet.
You can also input your weight into the app so it updates your required calories, and tracks your progress.
The MyFitnessPal app also gives you the option to share your progress
via facebook and twitter, as well as add friends to your My Fitness Pal
account, to offer support and encouragement.
I haven’t used this function yet.
Overall, for a free app, I think it is brilliant.
I give it 5/5 and will be recommending it to all my friends who are trying to lose weight.
