Today I’m sharing some of my Recent Reads. I have mentioned previously that Hubby got me a Kindle Paper White for Christmas, so I can read in bed. This seems to have opened a whole can of worms, though. I have been glued to my kindle almost constantly since I got it. The second the kids are in bed, I am reading. Hubby doesn’t seem to mind too much, as it means he’s free to play on his XBox One.

Recent Reads – Either Side Of Midnight By Tori De Clare

Recent Reads - either side of midnight

As an Amazon Prime customer, I get to loan one kindle book a month, for free. While browsing the list of potential books, I spotted Either Side of Midnight by Tori De Clare. It is set in Manchester (my home city) and the reviews said it was a suspense / thriller type read, which messed with your head. That,
combined with the 4.6/5 rating made me pick it. The ebook is also free on Kindle Unlimited or £1.99 to buy.

I don’t want to give anything away, as it was an absolute pleasure how the story unfolded and developed in front of me as I read. All I will say is, make sure you don’t have any plans the week you start reading it, as I bet you’ll find yourself wanting to cancel them and curl up with your kindle, instead.

The Darkness Visible

I read Either Side Of Midnight in about 3 evenings, and I was hooked! Within 10 minutes of finishing it, I knew I had to download the second installment in the saga. I could have waited 4 days and downloaded it as my free kindle book for January, but that wasn’t an option. Obviously. I paid the £1.99 so I could begin reading straight away. (It’s free if you have kindle unlimited too).

Recent Reads - darkness visible

I finished the second book this morning, and I’m already getting impatient for the next one. (Which isn’t out yet so goodness knows how long I’ll have to wait). I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to scary books. I personally felt these books were more like ‘edge-of-your-seat‘ reads, than scary.

The second book – The Darkness Visible answered a lot of the questions I had buzzing around my head at the end of the first book. It also left me with new questions, theories and suspicions as to where the plot would go next. It has been a long time since my adrenaline spiked while reading a book, but that happened several times while reading these two books. I may have to tweet the author, Tori de Clare to try to get some answers from her ahead of the 3rd book being released…!

My Thoughts

I’d definitely recommend reading them. If you’re entitled to a free kindle book each month, make Either side of midnight next on your list. If not, the books are well worth £1.99 each.

Now, I’m off to collapse on the sofa with my kindle to choose my free book for January. You may need to send a search party, if I haven’t surfaced by the weekend…!

This is not a sponsored post. I read and enjoyed these books, so thought I would share – simples!
